Record Store Day Weekend starts TODAY with a sweet little sale! 15% off all NEW Vinyl! 25% off all USED Vinyl, CDs, DVDs, and Books! TODAY ONLY!

At 7PM Mean Lady will be performing in the store! They have let us know that their new T-shirts are done and they will have them to sell at the show. Pre-order their new (and first) 7-inch today and it will be a numbered, personalized, signed copy!

Most of the RSD releases have arrived (a few stragglers will be arriving today) so if you want to LOOK at something in particular we can pull it out to show it to you. Nothing will be for sale until we open our doors tomorrow morning at 10AM. We can/will not hold ANY release for ANY body.

The wait is almost over…Record Store Day is just one week away! We’ve got an entire weekend full of great stuff for you to check out….here’s our schedule so far:

FRIDAY APRIL 15th:
Stop in and preview Saturday’s releases (the full list is on recordstoreday.com), shop our storewide sale (15% off New vinyl and 25% off all Used product), and come back at 7pm for an instore performance from Mean Lady and pre-order their upcoming 45!

SATURDAY APRIL 16th:
We’ll be open 10a-8p. All the RSD releases will be for sale, but please keep in mind that this year we have set a limit of ONE of each item per person. Everything will be first come, first serve! Saturday we will also have our limited edition Rainbow Record Store Day T-Shirts for sale! (Scroll down to view the two winning designs)
Make sure to stop by Switch to watch the premiere of the Deerhunter 3-D Pitchfork Session and enter to win a pair of Aerial 7 headphones!

SUNDAY APRIL 17th:
If the weather agrees, we’ll be bringing down 7,500 pieces of vinyl plus tons of CDs and books for our $1 Sidewalk Sale! We’ll keep you posted if we reschedule.

If we could choose one word to characterize the past few months for Rainbow Records, it would undoubtedly be “new”, and in that spirit, we’ve decided to try out something else new! Rainbow is excited to announce its very first T-Shirt Design Contest, which will run until the end of March. Anyone can make a submission, and after the deadline we will choose a couple of our favorite designs to print on shirts which will be made available for sale on Record Store Day (April 16th)!

Before you enter your design into the contest, please be sure to read the specifications so that meets the requirements! You can view the PDF here or stop in to pick up a flyer for all the details.

The deadline is March 31st, and you can drop off your design at the store during hours of operation or send it to us via email (found in the PDF above…we’d list it here, but we’re not crazy about getting spam emails!).

It includes remastered versions of 69 Love Songs Volumes 1-3 on six 10″ records, a collector’s booklet and a download code for mp3s of all the songs. This is one of those Record Store Day releases that may be hard to find elsewhere, but we still have it for you.

Biggggg news people. We just confirmed that Freelance Whales are playing an in-store for us on Record Store Day! Their debut album comes out on April 13th via French Kiss/Mom & Pop so this will also be a record release show of sorts. It’s gonna look and sound something like the above video. The smell, however, will be much more pleasant. Our store does not smell like a Brooklyn subway stop.

We’d also like to say how excited we are for this show and how thankful we are to the band, their “peoples,” and even you, Mox Stitz (aka DJ Baby Sweat) for helping to make this happen.
