New issues of Decibel, Alternative Press and Art Forum are now in!
Here’s a pretty interesting and in depth guide to digitizing your vinyl. People ask us about this all the time. It’s really pretty simple. You get a turntable with a digital output. You plug it into your computer which has some sort of software installed to record music. After that, how far you want to to take it is up to you. Enjoy.
For the record, this post is from the Soul-Sides blog which is one of the best sites for soul and r&b music on the webs.

Biggggg news people. We just confirmed that Freelance Whales are playing an in-store for us on Record Store Day! Their debut album comes out on April 13th via French Kiss/Mom & Pop so this will also be a record release show of sorts. It’s gonna look and sound something like the above video. The smell, however, will be much more pleasant. Our store does not smell like a Brooklyn subway stop.
If you’d like to hear more Freelance Whales stuff hit up their MySpace or stop in the store and have a listen on our crappy speakers! We’d also like to say how excited we are for this show and how thankful we are to the band, their “peoples,” and even you, Mox Stitz (aka DJ Baby Sweat) for helping to make this happen.
Don’t forget, there will also be a ton of freebies and exclusive Record Store Day releases to grab on April 17th as well. It’s gonna be a great day, so don’t miss it! The performance starts at 7.
Maybe NSFW, unless you work in an awesome place where bad words are allowed…

New issues of Wax Poetics, Rolling Stone, Wire, The New York Review of Books, and Fangoria are now in!

Just wanted to give everyone a head’s up that we recently received a few copies of Quiet Loudly’s debut album, Soulgazer. Normally we don’t feel the need to let you know about every CD we carry, but this one is different because we went directly to the band to get it in stock. We’ve kind of fallen in love with this album over the past few weeks and it’s been in steady rotation in and out of the store. Only problem was, we couldn’t get it from our normal distributor. So, now we have it, and you can have it too. We’re selling it for $7.99, and believe us, that’s a freakin’ steal! If you go to the band’s MySpace you can hear a few tracks (we recommend starting with “Over the Balcony”) or stop in the store and we’ll let you listen to the rest of it.
